Houston's 25th Annual Art Crawl at Mother Dog Studios

My first official art showing in Houston!!!!! ART CRAWL!!!!

I have shown my art sporadically throughout the past: online, in boutiques, coffee shops, and live painting events.  I have also been privileged to have a solo art exhibition in Brockton, Massachusetts. But, this event was REALLY important to me.  It was my first art showing, showcasing my body of work as a Houston Artist, in Houston, Texas.

I have moved to Houston, after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  I have lived in Houston for 12 years now.  And, Houston has been my home ever since then.  The City and the people of Houston, welcomed me and my family during the toughest time in my family's lives. It has been my home away from home since losing everything from Hurricane Katrina.  I could not have landed in a better city.  I finished my education in Houston and have worked here for the past four years as a real estate and probate attorney.   I am very honored and proud to be admitted into the Texas Bar. But, I would say that my role as an attorney, only touches the tip of the iceberg of Who I Am.  I believe when a person views my art, they see ME.

I am so very grateful to have an opportunity to step out into a larger platform and show the world my work, and become a part of Houston's art community.  It feels like it took a long time for me to get to this place, a place of self-love and acceptance, a place of stepping outside of my comfort zone, and finally pursue my wildest dreams despite whatever obstacles may await ahead.  Finally, my desire to be my authentic self and to pursue living my utmost ideal and authentic life, is outweighing my fears of what anyone my think or say. I sense that I am step-by-step dissolving limiting belief systems that once prevented me from taking any action to fulfill my genuine goals. I feel closer and closer to embodying the person I always dreamt of becoming, and doing the work I always dreamt of doing. I am so very grateful and determined to pursue this dream.

I definitely have a long way to go in my pursuit of being a successful, full-time artist and creative entrepreneur; but at least, I can finally say, that I have stepped into the arena, to fight for my dreams.

You have to believe in your capacity. You have to believe that your capacity is greater than you could probably imagine. To me, this is a kind of divine question. God has given us talents and faculties, and it’s up to us to discover them, expand them to their maximum, and use them for maximum service in the world....So, I would just say, “Believe in yourself more deeply. You’re bigger than that. Dream bigger, I would say.”
— Rainn Wilson, Excerpt from Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss.

I am so grateful to all of my friends and family (and new friends and family), who came out to support and checkout my art.  I am so very grateful for the love on social media, the kind words, and the purchase of my works at Houston's Art Crawl. It means so much more to me than you would ever know.

Here are the pieces that were sold at the Houston's 25th Annual Art Crawl:

This opportunity would not have been possible without Houston Artist, Tra Slaughter.  I have admired Tra's work since 2013, when my husband and I entered Tra's booth at Houston Downtown Art Festival for the first time. We both purchased pieces from Tra and have been collecting his work ever since.  Tra's art inspires me and in many ways, kept the artist fire inside of me, alive throughout these past few years.  It was a huge honor to show my art with Tra Slaughter and I would not have this opportunity if it was not for him.  You can view Tra Slaughter's works online on Instagram at: artist_traslaughter and online at: www.traslaughter.com. Below is a picture of some of Tra's work:

Houston's 25th Annual Art Crawl was such an amazing experience!  I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity to meet the incredible individuals and artists who were in attendance and to show my work with such talented and cool people.

Special Thanks to everyone who came to support my first official showing in Houston and those who purchased my latest works. Special thanks to Tra Slaughter.  Special thanks to my husband, Mark Anthony Hawkins who helped me install all of my works.  And thank you to all the new friends and extended family, I got the pleasure to meet that day.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Also, I will be working and showing my work via private showings at Mother Dog Studios for the remainder of December 2017.  Feel free to contact me for a private showing at: 713-487-9685.
