AVM Hawkins’ exhibition “Sentience: Presence as a Way of Seeing, Being & Creating,” at Mid Main Gallery features 20 new abstract paintings, and 3 sculptural deconstructed paintings, that aim to induce the experience of Sentience—an awareness of one’s inner thoughts, feelings, and sensations through the experience of abstract art.

AVM uses the experience of creating and viewing art as an interactive metaphor for humanity’s inherent ability not only to perceive and experience the world around us, but also to perceive and experience our own inner world.

AVM’s “Alchemy” is a fine art series, where AVM uses various mediums + mixed media, to give the illusion of metal onto canvas. These paintings are inspired by AVM’s favorite book, “The Alchemist,” by Paulo Coelho and incorporates words, intentions, + sentiments with mixed media to create a once in a lifetime series, inspired by AVM’s pursuit of her own Personal Legend through her art.

AVM Hawkins is opening up her Winter St. Studio in Houston, at Sawyer Yards to the public this Saturday, January 11th, 2020 from Noon to 5:00pm. AVM will showcase brand new, color-full series of works on paper, perfect for bringing in the New Decade with style and vibrant energy. Enjoy champagne while viewing art by AVM, and her studio mates, Alfredo Ott III and Paula Hawkins.

AVM is very excited to announce that three of her original works are being represented by Bisong Art Gallery in Houston, Texas. These works are currently exhibited at Trez Art & Wine located near the corner of Student and Washington Ave. On Friday December 20th, 2019, Bisong Art Gallery will host an art reception and artist talk where AVM will speak, along with other local Houston Artists participating in the show.
