𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 & 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 is a large scale painting, approximately 6ft tall and 5 ft wide, most recently exhibited in “IMPETUS” at Mid Main Gallery last year.⁣

When I created 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 & 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹, I was experiencing a “Full Circle Moment.” I returned to the studio where I first committed myself to pursuing a career as an artist. I was back in my old studio when I first began the John Ross Palmer’s Escapist Mentorship Program, however, this time, I was no longer the woman I was when I first entered that space.⁣

I knew myself. And I actualized my life’s deepest desire: to become a full-time artist.⁣

⁣

𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 & 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 was the first large scale painting I painted back in this sacred place. The canvas was HUGE, tacked to the wall. My movements were confident, lacking doubt or disbelief, filled with an inner knowing, that I am doing exactly what I was born to do.⁣

𝗕&𝗕 contains hundreds of single individualized bold gestures capturing my dance up + down my step ladder, while maintaining a unified + cohesive painting. Each stroke joins the circular flow, making the work whole + complete. Using one of my favorite color combos of brown + blue providing a soothing contrast upon the natural negative space of the tan canvas. ⁣

I felt like a ghost in my studio. Aware of the nostalgia of my first time there, but knowing I no longer relate to the older version of myself. 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 & 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 represents my growth as a woman + artist. It encompasses the silent confidence in my inner being, I once did not have, but now, cannot proceed without. It represents the wisdom that comes with experience + the courageous pursuit of one’s joy. ⁣
