New Art: Vital
Lots of new art on the way, to the website and my social media platforms.
Been in the studio a lot and moving more works closer and closer to completion each day, which is always exciting and rewarding. It provides the feeling of progress and forward moment, especially when working on multiple works at the same time.
I get to remain in the flow. Refrain from overthinking and over analyzing, each move, and what the end result will be, and allow the paintings to reveal themselves on their own accord.
Vital is a brand new work that I love.
And its very different.
All of my works lately have been changing this past year, and the messages I’ve been receiving regarding this one: It’s different. Different from my other works.
The last time, I received this same type of response for my work, it was back in 2018, during my year long residency at John Palmer Art Gallery. By the end of the residency, my work evolved a great deal from when I first began.
This is great news.
Because I never want to remain the same with my work, and as a human being.
I want to grow, evolve, and get better.
I love how there is clearly an inner world thriving underneath this piece, and then bold movement on top, lots of texture, yet the beige contains a calm command about it.
There is a new texture I’ve added to this work, that’s very granular like a mixture of sand and course grounded rocks. Some of the original texture, untouched, and still visible in the upper right hand quadrant of the work, underneath the confident black brush strokes.
There is definitely a transformation going on. And I am here for all of it.
Transformation is always first, an inside job.
It usually takes a long time before the fruits of one’s labor to become seen.
But, nonetheless, the transformation is happening.
Stay strong.
Keep going.
