Power Outage
Earlier this week, in the dead of night, we experienced a power outage.
Our young child was asleep, while my husband and I were watching tv.
Suddenly, it was pitch black in our home.
I moved smoothly to light candles.
We poured a glass of wine, and sat together at our kitchen counter, listening to our favorite radio station, WWOZ 90.9, New Orleans.
The radio was playing, “Lessons” by Loaded Honey, helping me discover their album, “Love Made Trees.”
The vibe was so romantic.
The music, so good.
This power outage, which could typically in the past serve as a minor inconvenience, here, served as the impetus for a romantic moment.
I saw how beautiful our home looked in the candlelight, and took some photographs with my phone.
Precious moments happen everywhere, all the time.
New discoveries, inspirations, like the music and these photos, happen sometimes from random occurrences and inconveniences.
The gift, is to live with eyes open, prepared and ready to experience something special.
