Perfectionism. Feeling the Fear that Comes with Stepping Outside my Comfort Zone.

There’s a finality that comes with the approach of an upcoming show…

One where an artist realizes that there’s no more art to make, no more final touches or additions to contribute to the works…

It’s time to stop.

Stop, and release it to others to view, experience, interact with, and ultimately provide their own reactions in the exchange of dialogue, expressed opinions and perspectives.

I’ve reached that point.

I have a show coming up…soon.

And I’m growing nervous as I approach my installation date.

I’m still adding touches to paintings, allowing them to dry as I aim to pack them in the car last.

I want to procrastinate more, but the time has come—come to share what I made.

I still get really uncomfortable with the approach of a show.

And it doesn’t make sense, because I’ve done many, and, I always show work that I’m proud of, so as to not allow myself to rely on external factors that are not within my control.

In spite of my past experience in showing my work, I still get nervous, every time…

I’ve pushed myself, again, outside my comfort zone and I am feeling it.

No pictures today.

But more to show and tell soon.

Save the date: Thursday October 1st. 6:00pm. Houston, TX.
