Rituals
Morning Ritual: Bustello Coffee, with Frapped Almond Creamer and Brown Sugar.
I’m continuing the vibe from yesterday, by beginning my morning lighting more incense. This time, Patchouli, a really nice scent that I find also very soothing and subtle. Perfect to meditate to, but today, I read some affirmations, silently, and then a Sunday Mass Reading from 2024.
The incense helps me to become present; helps me connect to myself.
Since motherhood, I relish quiet moments like this: silence and inner peace. Inner peace, meaning: I feel safe, calm, and relaxed in my body and with my emotions.
As you can imagine, as an artist, I am very in tune with my emotions. And, is also why, I love art as a positive and healthy means of releasing emotions.
With Parenthood, I feel all the feels.
I feel all the emotions, at once, every single day.
I am charged with the responsibility of teaching a brand new human how to manage these intense emotions, and I am learning how to do the same while on the job. But, as hard as this can be at times, I feel that it's my greatest work to date; and, I find it a blessing to do so.
Anyways, more and more, I value sitting still. Lighting candles or incense. And sipping my favorite coffee.
Ritual
(Almost) every morning, I make my favorite cup of coffee: Bustello with a caramel almond creamer, frapped, with brown sugar. My coffee is strong with just enough sweetness, like a cafe au lait from Cafe du Monde, but just without the chicory. I make me and my husband a cup. Some mornings I switch it up to make my coffee black with brown sugar, also, very delicious and perfect on the days when I’m really tired in the morning.
A good cup of coffee is literally one of my favorite things in the world. And my favorite thing, is to make a cup for another.
Wishing you a great one.
Always,
AVM
