New Work: Eternal

Eternal, AVM Hawkins 2025; 36 (H) x 24 (W) inches, Acrylic, Crayon, Oil Pastels, & Mixed Media on Canvas.

More new work, however, normally they don’t typically pop out back to back like this.

This was a work that was growing closer and closer to the finished line for some time but I’ve been sitting with it to see if there were any details I wanted to add.

The feeling of “it’s done,” isn’t always so clear.

When I am unsure, I have learned to stop, and allow the work to sit—often times in the background.

My unconscious mind, is still contemplating the piece, considering which move, if any is next.

When moving some work around, and pulled this one out, to the side from its cohorts.

I felt, “there’s nothing left to do it.”

Sometimes, that’s how one knows their work is complete.

There is nothing left to do.

It is, what’s its meant to be. And the work is done.
