New Work: Glad & Grateful
Glad & Grateful; AVM Hawkins 2025, Acrylic on Canvas, 36 (H) x 24(W) inches (each).
I like to name my paintings with a title that is positive and aspiring.
This may be a little cheesy on my part, but it’s important for me that my work have a positive meaning.
Art contains energy and has the ability to transform the energy of any environment.
I deeply want my art to always extend a positive vibe that uplifts one’s mood; maybe even add a boost to one’s day.
Paintings can be an object to meditate upon, and their title can be a mantra to repeat and reflect upon as a vehicle to accessing calmness within and a means of setting an intention for one’s day.
Glad, AVM Hawkins 2025; Acrylic on Canvas. 36 (H) x 24 (W) inches.
Grateful; AVM Hawkins 2025, Acrylic on Canvas; 36 (H) x 24 (W) inches
There is something calming about these two works…and also cold.
I’ve had more some people comment to me that these two works look like “ice caves.”
And ironically, there is something very peaceful about ice and snow, and solitary about an ice cave; but it’s also not for the faint of heart.
One must be prepared to survive the freezing cold, and the unexpected twists and turns from nature.
Being glad, and being grateful; although easy concepts to list off as tools for living a lovely life, they can be very difficult to remember to do, when a storm is in the mist.
However, it is these very two states of being and mental attitudes that are necessary to not only survive these inevitable hardships of life, but also thrive.
Wishing you a great day.
