New Art: Unified
I love the color scheme in this work.
The color palette was from a dear friend, collector, and ultimately the commissioner of a similar sized and vibed painting.
I was given the color scheme and also complete creative control over the work to create an abstract painting.
As I began painting the commission, I began to feel the usual internal blocks that arrive when I fixate too deeply upon only one work.
I began procrastinating, and became too fixated on the final outcome.
It’s hard to paint something for someone, because everyone has their own personal taste. I aim to please them. But when aiming to please, oftentimes, we loose connection with our instinct.
I enjoy when I make a work, and a person finds the exact work that seems like it was made just for them.
To get out of my rut, I painted on three same sized canvases (luckily I had the extra materials on hand), inspired by the same collector and color scheme.
The painting that emerged, was absolutely beautiful, and is titled: “On Earth, as it is in Heaven.”
On Earth, as it is in Heaven, AVM Hawkins, In a private collection.
Both paintings, completely different, were inspired by the same commission.
Their pathways become clear as I paint, and pursue further.
I love the wide brush strokes of Unified, and how their colors have a clear separation, an own identity to them, yet compliment each other so well.
