New Art: Evolution
Evolution, AVM Hawkins 2025, Acrylic & Oil Pastels on Canvas. 36 (H) x 24 (W) inches
There’s a lot of new art. And it’s not my intention for all of these blog posts to become a feature for new work. It just so happens that I’ve been crazy productive this month, with getting into the studio daily, with the company of my little one.
H’s presence and growing independence has allowed for this transformation to happen this year, and I could not be more excited.
I’ve missed putting in the hours in the studio.
And although the time is not at all near to the time I used to put in before motherhood, I can say that the time is so much more rewarding.
Evolution, 2025 AVM Hawkins
My work is evolving. Changing and transforming. And becoming more confident, expressive, and unapologetic.
Less cute.
Less trying to conform.
Less, creating for an audience in mind.
I guess it’s partially because I no longer have the time nor physical and emotional energy to be anything I am not anymore.
The studio is the only place where I can be free and explore.
And even though the time in the studio has increased significantly, there is still no time to waste.
What comes through in the art, is what comes through.
And I love it.
I love to just create, and step back and discover more about myself through observing the work, as the viewer.
