Oshun is the central figure in the creation of human beings. She is a protector, a savior, a creator, nurturer of humanity and maintainer of spiritual balance. She is the patron saint of the Oshun River in Nigeria, which was named after her. Oshun is associated with the colors: white, yellow, and gold. (Britannica)

Oshun is the ultimate deity.

A mother. A woman. A Goddess.

She is everything I would ever want to embody. Everything I would love and desire to exude within myself.

But the most important realization I or anyone could ever experience, is the realization that these exact qualities are already inside you. Inside me. Inside every single one of us.

These qualities also gave birth to us.

Created us. And continually provide us air. Continually breathe life into us.

Gods and Goddesses, in mythology and religion, always have human qualities. They display human emotions, sometimes anger, grief, sadness, and joy. They maintain similar visible physical characteristics of humans. They make mistakes, change their minds, yet they are still powerful, divine, and have the potential to bless people and things, heal, create abundance and love.

I loved going through the process of creating Oshun, reflecting upon her and myself.

She is not much different than you or me.

I hope that by gazing upon her, she reminds you of your inherent, born-given beauty, power and divinity.

There is no action to take nor thing that must be done to receive this.

It is you.

It is already yours.
