Black Coffee, Brown Sugar

Today is a black coffee, brown sugar kind of morning.

Every now and then I switch up my coffee game to this classic: Bustello dripped coffee, black; and 3 -4 teaspoons of brown sugar. My coffee is strong, yet sweet, where I can really take in the natural flavor of the coffee itself.

I tend to crave this version when I am feeling active, ready to be productive that day.

And today was no exception.

I’ve been continuing from my rhythm and momentum of enjoying three consecutive studio days back to back.

Been working with medium and large sized canvases, incorporating lots of layers of texture and paint, and have begun working on abstract paper pieces again. (The last time I’ve worked on these were in 2020 / 2021. Yikes.)

In many ways, nowadays remind me a lot of 2020, the pandemic days.

During that time, I dived into work; creating.

Art serves many outlets for me.

It’s a way to process my emotions and my thoughts, constructively.

Painting is a physical process, moving canvases around, scrapping or applying paint. And it sometimes serves as a journal, with me writing thoughts and words directly onto the canvas, feeling safe that I could always paint over it. The energy of the words are still contained in the piece.

Today I’ve been completing works, and knocking things off my action list.

Keep going.

Wising you love, peace, and a productive day.

Always,

AVM
