Inspiration, Lately
Recently, my son has REALLY, REALLY gotten into drawing on paper. He’s becoming quite prolific actually.
It’s been incredibly inspiring to watch him draw.
And it’s been rewarding to see mini works of art and “sculptures” turn up in various places in our home.
My son is now three and a half, approaching four this summer.
As an artist, my heart feels overjoyed to see him create naturally without intentionally trying to influence him.
This means that his drawings and sometimes unsanctioned “murals” turn up in places where they should not… however, the artist within me ( lowkey) is beaming with pride and joy at my son’s endeavors and his freedom to see an opportunity and create something that is 100% his own.
Art and inspiration is everywhere. And I am sure it is not a surprise to anyone that I would find immense inspiration in my son.
But it’s really a gift to see how as human beings, it is within our very nature to create things.
Imagination, experimentation and play is our inherent nature.
Being a mom has been a wonderful reminder of who I am (who we all are), deeply within—an incredible being whose purpose to explore, create, and have fun.
I would sometimes walk into a room, and see a random “creative contributions” from H.
They are always, well…most of the time… a very pleasant surprise that can switch me out of a serious mood.
Motherhood has helped me reprioritize pause, presence and play.
Being an artist, has helped me intentionally put this into practice.
These photos inspire me to identify and allocate more time for keeping art materials with me, and taking creativity outside my usual creative spots. They inspire me to keep my materials handy, and to work on more smaller sketches and original works on paper.
Who inspires you to create? And what project do you want to work on next?
Wishing you a very happy and enjoyable weekend.
